Offset allows you to neutralize your shipping emissions that contribute to climate change. You can proudly tell your customers that they are supporting an environmentally-friendly business that invests in sustainability initiatives to counteract the environmental impact of shipping.
Every month, Offset calculates the total emissions generated by your shipped orders, and that number becomes your monthly Offset cost. The price is low—a few cents or less per order—and your Offset payments go towards forest protection initiatives. Charges will appear on your monthly Shopify bill, and you can opt out at any time.
From your Offset dashboard, you can see the total amount of shipping emissions you’ve offset and the environmental impact benefit of those offsets, including how many trees you’ve paid to protect. You can share these environmentally-friendly statistics with your customers.
2. EcoCart: Carbon Neutral Orders
EcoCart is a simple and free way to show your customers you care about the environment as much as they do. Deliver a more sustainable shopping experience by giving your customers the option to offset the environmental impact of their orders with a single click.
3. Carbon offsetting at checkout
Compensate is a nonprofit combating climate change by offering everyone easy access to carbon capture. They calculate the climate impact of your customer’s order and shipment, and then offer your customers the option to pay to offset this impact.
The app calculates the climate impact of your customer’s order and shipment when they add items to their cart. In the shopping cart, your customers will see a checkbox enabling carbon negative delivery. If they click “Yes” and choose to compensate, the app will add a small fee to their order and keep it clear by marking it as a new product in their cart. Other than that, the check out process remains the same.
Once the order is placed, you’ll ship it as you normally would. The app doesn’t take any cuts from your customers’ payments, but use them in full towards carbon capture. The app manages a carbon capture portfolio which is always on the lookout for the most sustainable, cost effective and reliable carbon capture methods.
The emission calculations we use are based on the weight of the package and the distance of the delivery. On average, the cost of offsetting an international shipment weighing 1kg is 0.51€ and for a domestic shipment weighing 1kg it is 0.07€.

Cloverly calculates the carbon impact of a customer’s order as they place items in the cart using available data like product weight and customer location.
Your customers will see a checkbox to “Add $0.46 for carbon neutral shipping?” in their shopping cart. Selecting this box enables carbon neutral delivery. Each estimate customers can view the specific amount of carbon emitted from the delivery of their order and the details of the specific offset project used.
If your customer elects to green their order by checking the box, they’ll be charged a little bit extra—almost always less than $1—on their Shopify order.

Your customers now have the option to balance the carbon footprint of their order. Default contributions are a round-up value, with 245 lbs of CO2 emissions offset per $1 contributed. Contributions are added to cart total and automatically collected at checkout. There is no page reload, no added user registration or checkout requirements, just one-click to check the box.
Participating customers receive an automated confirmation e-mail with a unique hyperlinked verification code, where they can access their personal Carbon Portfolio and track their contributions and funded carbon offset projects in real-time.

At checkout, your customer will automatically be notified through the custom badge telling them that you’ll be planting a tree when they place an order.
There’s not extra items added to your to do list, the app automatically tracks how many orders have been placed every month and will charge you accordingly to plant those trees. Then, the custom homepage widget will show your prospective customers in real time how many trees you’ve planted!
7. Click 4 Carbon
With the integration of the Click 4 Carbon app, you give your customers the opportunity to jointly support a reputable tree planting project for as little as 1 CHF/€/US$. Your customers may choose from 3 different projects in Africa, South America and Asia (Borneo) and make their contribution. For 5.- CHF/€/US$ CarbonConnect guarantees the planting of a tree through the Treelionaire project. Your customer will receive a certificate by mail. The 1Planet Carbon Offset App for Shopify enables merchants to provide a seamless and transparent offsetting solution for their carbon footprint from product shipping and packaging.
1Planet offers superior transparency and carbon accounting by utilizing the blockchain-based technology. Customers receive immediate verification about the climate project(s) and carbon offset(s) used while being educated about the climate solutions they support.
This Shopify app is connected to the larger 1Planet eco-system that creates a positive economy for climate action. By using this Shopify app you will also benefit from the separate 1Planet Marketplace in-app advertising for partners which can drive new eco-conscious consumers to your store.
You will have the option of viewing all your store offsetting transactions in your own 1Planet Marketplace account and to also use the built-in carbon calculators to estimate and offset other business activities like energy use, travel, etc. 1Planet makes it easy to create a more sustainable business and to take verifiable climate action.
9. Ecodrive
The Ecodrive App seamlessly integrates into the Shopify cart so that your customers can help offset the carbon emissions from shipping the product. The function is automatically toggled on for a store once the app is activated. What this means is that when someone adds a product to cart, a product labeled Ecodrive will also be added with a price of $0.65, which represents the tree being planted.
Only one Ecodrive product is added no matter how many products are added to cart, so if someone adds 3 different items, there will still be only one Ecodrive (tree) in the cart. It is not added again per product. There is one tree planted per order, not per product. Customers are given the option to easily toggle off the tree planting by clicking the toggle, which will automatically remove the Ecodrive product from their cart. Customers are also given the option to add additional trees per order if they’d like to plant more than one tree.
The app automatically includes the tree in cart to help increase conversion, cart size, and to maximize environmental impact/tree count. In your Ecodrive App Dashboard you can track the conversion rate of Ecodrive to see how many of your customers opt in to help validate that your community does care about helping the environment and is willing to plant a tree with you.

Offsettr by Greenr provides a simple and inexpensive way to give your customers the chance to carbon offset part (or all) of their purchase from your store. Offsettr charges a usage fee for each product added and will bill you at the end of each month. The app then buy the offsets on your behalf.

There are 3 ways to configure your impact:
- Plant X number of trees for every unit sold through your store
- Plant X number of trees for each complete order on your store
- Plant 1 tree for every X dollars revenue generated by the store

This app let’s you reduce the footprint of your store without big investments. It calculates the footprint of each of your products and let your clients offset those at checkout by paying a little extra on top. The money they collect is going to verified projects worldwide which fight climate change.
14. CO2ok
CO2ok offers a service that lets your customers compensate the CO2 footprint of their online purchases through investment in projects that directly contribute to lowering or neutralising the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. By enabling your customers to do so you do your bit to preserve our planet for our kids and future generations.
Upon checkout, customers are presented the choice to offset greenhouse gas emission of their purchase. When clicking the CO2ok-button a minor fee* is added to the order amount. Customers complete their order the regular way. The fee is paid by the customer to you and the app bill you the amount of accumulated fees. The app then invest 75% of the fee in the project(s) of your choice. The remaining 25% is needed for the operational costs.
15. One Tree Planted at Checkout
This app provides a widget, pop-up, and a donation checkbox at checkout asking your customers if they would like to plant a tree for $1.00.
If they say yes, $1.00 is added to their order as a donation to One Tree Planted, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in Vermont. Every dollar donated will plant one tree with our reforestation partners around the world.
